The Lord's prayer is not an exercise in persuasive rhetoric. It is a performative utterance. To claim the utterance is to go on mission to perform it. This prayer taught heaven's mission priorities to the disciples in the form of a policy statement so that believers will work out those priorities into reality on earth.
